SmartLipo is a safe and easy alternative to traditional liposuction, offering excellent results with the added benefit of skin tightening in the area of treatment.
At Serenity MedSpa, we combine both the Smartlipo Laser Liposuction and VASER® Ultrasound Liposuction when indicated to give you the benefits of both systems for the best results possible.
A very small cannula (tube) approximately 1.0mm in diameter containing a laser fiber is inserted into the skin. The cannula is moved back and forth delivering the laser’s energy directly to the fat cells, causing them to rupture and easily drain away. The laser energy also interacts with the dermis, resulting in skin shrinkage or tightening.
Due to the cannula’s small size, SmartLipo is a minimally invasive procedure and can be performed under local anesthesia. The laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact, resulting in less bleeding, swelling and bruising and a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction. Because general anesthesia is unnecessary, the procedure is very safe, with only minimal side effects.
If you have areas of fat that will not respond to diet and exercise, then you’re a candidate for Laserlypolisi. Ideal candidates are in good health, of normal body weight and have realistic expectations for the results.
SmartLipo is a great adjunct to traditional liposuction procedures, although it does not replace conventional liposuction. It is ideal for treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, breasts (gynecomastia), and areas of loose and flabby skin (floppy skin).
Results can be seen as soon as a week with continued improvement over several months.
Yes! Adults do not create new fat cells. When a person gains weight, the fat cells expand. The SmartLipo procedure permanently removes the fat cells. Should you gain weight, most fat will be deposited in areas where the procedure was not performed.
For most patients, typically only one treatment is required. The session may last from 45 minutes to one hour for each area treated.
After the treatment you will need to wear a compression garment for several days to several weeks, depending on the body area being treated. Rest is recommended after the procedure and activity may be resumed gradually. Refrain from hot tubs or strenuous exercise for 2 weeks.
The procedure will improve the body’s shape and may improve cellulite to a certain degree.

The staff here are professional, down to earth, kind, and nonjudgmental. They were patient with my questions, and I never felt rushed. Jessica is the absolute best! She is so funny, cheerful, and extremely helpful. Dr. David is considerably thorough. During the consultation, he explained options that were available based on my concerns, and he never treated me as if I were stupid because I wasn't an MD, and he never tried to "sell" me on anything. He let me digest the information and make up my own mind without pressure, yet without making me feel like my business didn't matter. Everyone there strikes a great balance between knowledge, no hard sell, yet making you feel as though your business matters to them.
Dr. David was so detail-oriented when he prepped the areas to be targeted for the procedure, and he performed the procedure with what seemed to be great perfectionism. He explained everything very calmly and patiently. And, he has a great sense of humor, just like everyone else in the office. Jessica was so great at making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed during the procedure. She even ordered lunch, and it was yummy!!!
Despite Dr. David doing the procedure, Dr. Lisa even checked in to see if I was okay. I saw Dr. Lisa yesterday for the day after followup. She is just as kind, professional, down to earth, knowledgeable, and nonjudgmental as everyone in the office, too.
So far, it's been a GREAT experience, and I can't wait to see my results. Definitely come to this place if you're planning on having SmartLipo. Another great thing-they're honest about the cost-no hidden fees, and they have TONS of experience with all of the procedures they do at their office in addition to the latest equipment. I love coming here-the staff are great! Everyone has a sense of humor, is knowledgeable, and extremely friendly. Ji recommended a wonderful lotion to smooth out the skin on my thighs (I was skeptical having heard these lotions don't work)-expensive but it really does work-even my husband has noticed a difference!!! I also had dysport there, and Dr. Lisa and Ji were so attentive. I have been exceptionally pleased with all of the services I've had thus far, and I highly recommend Dr. Lisa, Dr. David, and their team.

I am 65 years old, 5' 2" and live in Walnut Creek. Although I work out and had a personal trainer, I was unable to lose fat around my mid-section. Heard about Serenity on a TV show last year and went for a free consultation with Dr Lisa. I inquired about SmartLipo and she was kind, clear and professional during the consult. I did upper and lower abs in November and back and arms in January (virtually painless). I go to SF on BART and get there rested within 20-25 minutes. It's only a short walk from the Montgomery Street Station. Getting SmartLipo was one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. “I heard many good things through a friend about Serenity Medspa. At first, I was reluctant since I am not into cosmetic surgeries. However, after seeing the result on my friend, I decided to take the plunge. All I could say is WOW!! Dr. Lisa and Dr. David (they go by their first name since they are sister and brother) are both board certified surgeons as well as cosmetology surgeries. Serenity Medspa is located in a very nice area in the Union Square near other day spas and boutique stores- there is a parking couple blocks from the medspa. Moment I walked in, I was very impressed with the décor, and I was greeted with friendly staff who brought me into the procedure room. I got smartlipo on my abdomen and love handles. Since procedure is done under local anesthesia, there was no need for general anesthesia and I was awake throughout the procedure, chatting with the staff and Dr. Lisa and Dr. David. For me, I did not feel much pain at all throughout and it was such an enjoyable experience. The fact that they are skilled surgeons is a BIG plus and it definitely shows. Most of all, the best part is the RESULT!! I am still shocked at how effective this procedure is. My waist size has decreased good 3-4 inches just from the one day procedure. The area feels little sore for couple week, but not too bad since I went out to the movies the next day. I am already planning to save up for the next procedure!!!! “While you get procedures the staff pops in and asks you if you want something to drink, etc. every now and then which is nice. They even had my fav red gatorade and fed me it from a straw, schweet. I don't shop around looking for the the absolute lowest price when it comes to my body but the prices seem really reasonable. If you're considering getting something done I can highly recommend talking to them as they will take the time to explain every last question and show you anonymous before and after photo, too. Plus, like I said before, they have the latest-greatest new equipment and being a techie that mattered for me at least. I even learned some KOREAN!
