F-L-A-B. Flab. It’s the four-letter word we all fear. Sometimes, no matter how healthfully we eat or how diligently we work out, that stubborn fat stays put.
Now you can finally give flab the deep freeze and watch it disappear for good. CoolSculpting, a new FDA-cleared, non-invasive procedure removes fat from our belly, love handles, thighs and upper arms, sans knives or needles. Health experts from around the country are calling the results—often after just one or two treatments—unprecedented. Word of this cool new fat-busting technique is spreading quickly—worldwide, 425,000 CoolSculpting treatments were performed last year alone.
Two doctors at the Wellman Center at Massachusetts General Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, created the sophisticated technology behind CoolSculpting. The idea stemmed from the doctors’ observation that children who eat popsicles often grow up to be adults with dimples. They concluded that the dimples form because the cold killed the fat cells in their cheeks.
CoolSculpting freezes unwanted fat cells directly below the treatment area. Fat cells freeze at higher temperatures than other types of cells, which means there’s no damage to skin or nerves in the surrounding tissue. The process feels akin to a very thin layer of ice being placed over the skin and takes only 60 minutes, during which you can read, get work done or even catch up on your sleep.
Once the fat cells are frozen, they die and drain naturally from the body, leaving behind a smoother, toned and more sculpted-looking you. It’s possible to lose half an inch from your waistline after a single treatment, but it typically takes about six to 12 weeks to see the full results. Areas can be treated multiple times and with each treatment you can decrease the number of fat cells by about 20%.
Serenity MedSpa has added complimentary supplements and ultrasound treatments to its protocol to obtain even better, more noticeable results for its clients, all as part of its commitment to be the leader in the aesthetic field.
This effective procedure is so gentle that it requires zero downtime. You can attend a meeting, work out or even teach a yoga class right after a CoolSculpting treatment. Temporary side effects include occasional bruising and some redness. Optimal results are maintained with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
It’s important to know that CoolSculpting is not for everyone and is not a substitute for dieting. It’s also not for people who are extremely overweight with large amounts of fat to be removed. While there’s no magic pill for weight loss, for the right candidate, CoolSculpting works.
