Trichoscopy is an evaluation method used for diagnosing hair and scalp diseases. In trichoscopy, hair and scalp structures can be visualized at magnifications ranging from 10-fold to 70-fold, which are the most popular in research and clinical practice.

FotoFinder Trichoscale quantifies hair growth and hair loss. It makes it possible to document and quantify diffuse hair loss digitally with previously unimaginable accuracy. All the fundamental parameters of hair growth and hair loss are calculated automatically, quickly, painlessly. In contrast to other hair analysis programs, FotoFinder Trichoscale:
- Calculates the number of hairs, hair density, anagen-telogen rate, number and density of vellus and terminal hairs

What diseses can be distinguished with TrichoLAB?
The TrichoLAB trichoscopy report differentiates the majority of hair disorders. It may distinguish scarring versus nonscarring alopecia, androgenetic alopecia versus telogen effluvium. It also supports the diagnosis of alopecia areata, lichen planopilaris, anagen effluvium, folliculitis decalvans, discoid lupus erythematosus, trichotillomania and tinea capitis.
How quickly is the trichoscopy report generated?

How much does the analysis and report cost?
We charge $200 to analyze the scalp and to send you the report. However, for Serenity MedSpa hair loss clients, we provide the analysis and report complimentary.
How do I prepare for trichoscopy?
Trichoscopy does not require any specific preparation. However, we advise that you do not use any artificial hair fibers prior to the exam. For better visibility hair dyeing is advised for gray-haired patients.
Does trichoscopy hurt?
No. Trichoscopy is a completely noninvasive and painless procedure.
How much time does trichoscopy take?
The whole procedure only takes about 10 minutes.

The report is based on the computerized analysis of a set of videodermoscopic scalp images. Advanced pattern recognition algorithms automatically detect and precisely measure hair, hair follicles and other important objects visible in the images. Detailed data on hair and hair follicles are then used to calculate key statistical factors of the trichoscopic method. TrichoLAB’s algorithms and computation methods are continuously improved with each test, further enhancing overall precision.
