What is Restylane and Restylane Lyft?

Restylane and Restylane Lyft from Galderma, the makers of Dysport, are comprised of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar molecule in your body. When these hyaluronic acid fillers break down, they turn to water and carbon dioxide and your body naturally absorbs them.

What is Juvederm Ultra Plus and Juvederm Voluma?

fillers2Juvederm Ultra Plus and Juvederm Voluma from Allergan, the makers of BOTOX, are also made out of hyaluronic acid. Juvederm Voluma is one of the latest FDA-approved fillers to enhance the cheek area to achieve a “liquid facelift.” It is thicker in consistency and can last up to two years.

How do these hyaluronic acid filler work?

Dermal fillers are injected with a small needle to fill in wrinkles and give volume to the treated area.

What can I expect after these hyaluronic acid filler injections?

A treatment with any of these dermal fillers can cause mild swelling. In most cases, the swelling should resolve in a few days. Swelling may last longer with thicker products, like Juvederm Voluma, or if more than one syringe is used. Swelling tends to be more noticeable when products are injected into delicate tissues such as under the eyes and around the mouth. Since there is potential for bruising with a needle injection, we advise scheduling filler appointments when you have a few days of downtime. However, you are able to wear make up right away. To minimize swelling, it’s best to ice the treated are as often as possible for 24 to 48 hours following the procedure. We also provide complimentary arnica ointment and oral arnica tablets upon request to help minimize bruising and swelling.

Are these hyaluronic acid fillers safe?

Hyaluronic acid fillers, like Restylane and Juvederm, are very safe since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar molecule in your body. If there are any issues with these fillers, we can safely inject an enzyme called hyaluronidase into the treated area to melt it instantaneously. Side effects are very rare.

Am I a good candidate for dermal fillers?

Men and women of all ages can benefit from dermal fillers to help with a variety of skin concerns. For examples please see our before and after photos.
