At Serenity MedSpa, we offer PRP injections, exosome injections, and hair regrowth laser therapy to help you regain what you lost.

PRP Therapy: This treatment uses your own blood to stimulate hair growth. We draw a small blood sample, separate the plasma rich in platelets and growth factors, and inject it into the scalp to rejuvenate hair follicles. PRP has a strong track record of promoting hair regrowth safely.

Exosome Injections: Packed with stem cells, exosomes help prevent hair follicle miniaturization, reduce inflammation, and stimulate new, thicker hair growth.

Laser Therapy: Using the Sunetics hair laser, this low-level laser therapy improves scalp blood flow, supporting hair regrowth without pain, drugs, or downtime. Laser therapy is ideal for early hair loss, encouraging stronger, thicker hair.

How Do Hair Regrowth Treatments Work?

A PRP matrix contains a mix of platelet cells, growth factors, and plasma that help encourage hair growth. The PRP is delivered into the hair follicles via injection or microneedling. PRP stimulates hair growth by increasing circulation, accelerating tissue healing and regeneration, and creating an ideal environment where the hair can grow normally. PRP also helps to stimulate dormant, inactive, and even newly implanted hair follicles (from hair restoration procedures) into the active growth phase for a noticeable difference.

ACell + PRP

At Serenity MedSpa, we offer the newest nonsurgical hair regrowth therapy for men and women with ACell (MatriStem MicroMatrix®) + PRP. The ACell MatriStem MicroMatrix uses a proprietary protein made from the tissues of pig bladders. This combination approach to restoring normal hair growth and health works to reinstate the hair-thinning effects of DHT (dihydrotestosterone).

This hormone is known to interrupt regular communication between the root of the hair follicle and the stem cells, which are responsible for healthy hair growth. ACell + PRP restores that line of communication to reverse DHT’s thinning effects, reactivating the existing hair follicles, creating new blood vessel formation, and jumpstarting the normal hair growth cycle to create thicker, healthier hair. Since PRP does not contain stem cells, the ACell Matristem MicroMatrix® recruits adult stem cells to help new tissue formation since the technology works at the cellular level.

Exosome Therapy for Enhanced Regeneration

We can also incorporate exosome therapy into your PRP hair treatment. Exosomes are small components in stem cells that allow for additional tissue regeneration benefits to help speed up healing and promote even better results. When used in PRP therapy, exosomes jumpstart the body’s healing response to stimulate the production of new hair. PRP with exosomes for hair loss is best for those just noticing the initial stages of thinning hair.

Low-Level Laser Therapy

On the other hand, hair regrowth laser treatments rely on low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to stimulate the hair follicles, enabling them to heal and regrow into thicker, normal-sized hair while encouraging them to regrow at a healthy and standard rate. Using 100% laser energy, the treatment is more effective than LED treatment.

Since different light wavelengths affect tissue differently, the right wavelength must stimulate the hair and improve hair growth. Hair follicles absorb laser light at a wavelength of 650 nanometers (nm), which falls within the red color spectrum. Red laser light is known to have a healing effect on skin tissues and hair follicles. The Sunetics laser diodes use red laser light at 650 nm, the ideal wavelength for clinical-strength hair rejuvenation.

What Are the Benefits of Hair Regrowth Treatments?

PRP injections have several benefits for increased hair health and growth. The main benefit of PRP for targeting hair loss is that it supports the hair follicles and encourages hair growth by delivering the follicles the proper nutrition they need to thrive for reduced hair thinning and hair loss. Other benefits of PRP injections include:

Additionally, ACell attracts adult stem cells to the treatment area, which are then converted into progenitor cells that grow hair in the case of hair follicles. The goal of injecting ACell mixed with adult stem cells into areas experiencing hair thinning signals the adult stem cells to “wake up” so that the miniaturized hair follicles become healthier and thicker, producing more robust hair growth. ACell + PRP therapy also has regrown hair in those with alopecia areata, eyebrow hypotrichosis, and non-hereditary hair loss.

FotoFinder® Trichovision delivers trichoscopic clinical images with unsurpassed quality and accuracy. The system provides a comprehensive analysis to give clients details of their hair density, thickness, and follicular units. The FotoFinder® Trichovision includes digital camera technology that allows a clinician to view your scalp structure, follicular units, and individual hairs with a magnification of up to 120X and within half a micron—precision necessary for an accurate diagnosis.

With a better understanding of your scalp and hair, we can use the Sunetics laser treatment. The laser light helps to heal the hair follicle for long-lasting results and a noticeable improvement in the hair and its growth rate. The laser increases cellular activity and removes DHT, which hinders normal hair growth, so the hair follicles are better equipped to regrow normal, healthy hairs.

The laser also improves hair health by increasing ATP production to energize and repair the weakened follicle while increasing blood microcirculation and nutrient delivery. It also increases oxygen uptake and calcium ion mobilization while decreasing follicular inflammation.

Those who see the best benefits of hair regrowth laser therapy are usually in the early stages of hair thinning and loss and do not have balding throughout.

ACell + PRP is a relatively quick procedure that takes 60 minutes to perform in the office. First, a small amount of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest. Next, your hair and scalp are washed with an antiseptic scalp wash, and then topical anesthesia is applied (both topically and via injection) to the scalp to reduce any discomfort during the PRP treatment.
The highly concentrated PRP and ACell ‘cocktail’ is injected into the scalp, focusing on areas where thinning and hair loss are most prominent. The treated areas are then cleaned and wiped down, and you can return to your daily routine.
It’s best to wait at least 24 hours before washing your hair after treatment so that the PRP mixture can absorb into the scalp properly. Depending on the severity of your hair loss and the desired results, we recommend three treatments every six weeks.
Remember that with PRP, there are no incisions, cuts, or scarring. Mild inflammation and redness may occur in the treatment area for a few days after the procedure, along with minor scalp discomfort and swelling. We recommend avoiding exercise for the first 24 hours to give your body time to recover.

The results from PRP and ACell can take four to eight months to become apparent as the hair begins to get on track with a normal growth cycle. Within six months to one year, you should see an improvement in hair growth, and the hair quality appears thicker and denser. The hair will continue thickening over the next 12 to 15 months, with the final results lasting for years.

Hair regrowth laser therapy is a two-part treatment consisting of the photo analysis and the laser portion. During the photo analysis using the FotoFinder® Trichovision, the scalp and hair are analyzed via a continuous optical live zoom so that we can magnify them. There’s no feeling at all since the scalp is photographed so that we can better quantify the current state of your hair loss. During this portion of the treatment, we can calculate the number of hairs, hair density, anagen-telogen rate, and vellus and terminal hairs.

With this data, we can perform the laser treatment to garner noticeable results. The Sunetics laser treatment does not rely on needles, incisions, anesthesia, scars, or downtime. It is easy and convenient and takes about 20 to 30 minutes. You can read, relax, watch a movie, talk on your phone, or nap during the treatment. Immediately after a treatment session, you can return to your routine. A series of treatments over three months with maintenance sessions after the first six months are recommended to see optimal results.

Since the Sunetics hair laser is a noninvasive, low-level laser, it is safe and has minimal risk of side effects. The laser feels cool and does not use any heat, so you cannot get burned. There are also no known side effects with the treatment, which is cleared for treating androgenetic alopecia (hair loss) and promoting hair growth.

The cost of a hair PRP injection and hair regrowth laser treatment varies from person to person and depends on the treatment areas, the specific type of hair growth therapy used, and the number of sessions you'll need. Therefore, we recommend a consultation for a detailed estimate to determine your treatment's cost.
PRP injections are suitable for a wide range of people. Both men and women over 18 respond well to the treatment, especially if hair loss is genetic. It's also a good option for those who want an effective nonsurgical treatment, don't wish to undergo a hair transplant, or want to delay a hair transplant as long as possible. ACell + PRP injections help to slow and even stop hair thinning to improve density. Those who have exhausted their donor supply or who have poor-quality donor hair can also benefit from ACell and PRP without the need for more surgery. It is also a good option for anyone who wants to improve the appearance of a donor scar from previous surgeries. The treatment can also be used preoperatively, intraoperatively, or postoperatively or as an add-on to surgical restorations to increase graft survival rates, support rapid healing of the donor area, and improve the quality of native hair. It is also an excellent option for patients who want to maintain their hair without using medications like Propecia or Rogaine. Low-level laser hair regrowth suits both men and women experiencing early hair loss. Hair regrowth laser therapy is also effective for anyone noticing that their hair is starting to thin but not yet experiencing significant baldness. The treatment can help thicken existing hair, improve hair density, and maintain hair health, making it a suitable option for those who want to address thinning hair before it becomes more severe. Laser therapy is also often beneficial for those who have had hair transplant surgery since it can speed up the healing process, reduce inflammation, and improve the overall results.
PRP therapy is a safe and well-studied regenerative treatment. It has been used for over 20 years in orthopedics, sports medicine, oral, neurological plastic, and cosmetic surgeries. PRP positively impacts skin and wound healing. Because it uses your blood and cells, it poses no risk of allergic or foreign-body reactions while eliminating the risk of a blood infection.
Since everyone is different, we recommend scheduling a consultation to review all the details of your program and maintenance plan. However, generally speaking, undergoing PRP alone for hair regenerative purposes usually requires a session at least every two months for the first few treatments and then once every six months. If you receive only PRP treatment, you will likely require more maintenance treatments than undergoing the ACell + PRP combination. With ACell and PRP, you typically need a maintenance session once a year. We encourage scheduling a follow-up evaluation every three months. By monitoring hair growth with the HairCheck trichometry, we can best determine when the therapy's improvement in hair growth slows down or plateaus, eliminating guesswork as to when to administer the therapy again. Additional booster treatments may be necessary to maintain the desired results.
After ACell and PRP for hair regrowth therapy, you don't need to rely on prescription medications or topicals, and the treatment doesn't require daily maintenance. However, we recommend Nutrafol® Hair Supplement, which is scientifically proven to enhance and complement your ACell and PRP results.
During your PRP treatment protocol, you will need to have the sessions performed at least every two months until you complete the recommended program for your hair needs. From there, regular maintenance treatments yearly are often recommended. Coupling PRP injections with ACell is usually a once-a-year maintenance regimen for most patients since the treatment's ACell portion helps slow down hair thinning.
Most patients see results from the hair laser treatment alone without additional therapeutic hair regrowth treatments. We like the Sunetics laser for those who do not want or are not ready for a hair transplant and who do not want to deal with the side effects of medications.
Yes. Depending on your needs and goals, hair laser treatments can be combined with other hair loss treatments, such as Propecia®, Minoxidil, or supplements. It can also be used with PRP hair injections.
