What logo is Microneedling

Microneedling is a time-tested, minimally invasive anti-aging treatment that involves inserting very fine and short needles into the skin in a controlled manner. These needles create micro-wounds in the skin that prompt the skin’s natural wound-healing and collagen production process, helping to diminish the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, enlarged pores, uneven tone, and texture for healthier looking skin. While using needles to improve the skin may sound scary, it’s completely safe and scientifically proven to improve the skin and its overall health.
The needles used in microneedling range in depth from 0.5 to 3.5 millimeters. They are safely delivered into the skin using a pen-like device, which creates tiny wounds in the top-most layer of the skin. Making tiny controlled injuries stimulates collagen production, giving the skin a tight, firm effect, which it often loses due to aging.
Microneedling can be performed as described or coupled with RF energy in a single treatment to improve the skin further. At Serenity MedSpa, we use the Secret™ RF and Agnes RF microneedling devices.

Secret™ RF is an innovative fractional RF microneedling system that stimulates and remodels collagen from the inside out by delivering precise, controlled energy at various depths to target scars, sun damage, stretch marks, enlarged pores, common signs of aging, and skin quality, texture, and appearance with no downtime.

Agnes RF is only used under the eyes as a nonsurgical way to get rid of puffy under eye bags

RF microneedling is a dual-prong approach to improving the skin and creating new collagen while also providing a tightening effect and a lit-from-within glow.

How Does Microneedling Work?

The basic premise for microneedling (both the standard version and with RF) is that it safely and gently pierces the skin with sterile needles to trigger a wound-healing response and collagen stimulation. With RF microneedling, there is a simultaneous delivery of radiofrequency energy.

The heat from the RF energy creates a micro-injury that signals the body to ‘turn on’ its natural healing responses. As the skin begins to heal, it becomes thicker, firmer, and younger-looking. To reap the benefits of both types of microneedling, a series of treatments is often recommended since the effects are cumulative and take time to become apparent.

Microneedling is also safe for all skin tones. Because the punctures created in the top layer of skin are microscopic and not visible to the naked eye, there’s minimal concern for post-treatment scarring or pigmentation. Unlike other treatments, like a laser, the treatment also offers little downtime or recovery.

What Are the Benefits of Microneedling?

Microneedling and RF microneedling can be used to help improve a variety of different skin concerns. Some of the more notable benefits of the treatment include:

The logo Treatment Process

We recommend a consultation first to determine whether you are suitable for microneedling or RF microneedling.
After choosing the proper treatment for you, the skin is cleaned and then numbed to make the treatment more comfortable. A small pen-like device is held up to the skin, and gentle stamps are made into the skin to create micro wounds. If RF energy is being used too, as in Secret™ RF and Agnes RF, you may feel a little warmth as it is being delivered into the skin while the microneedling wounds are made.
Add-on treatments are also beneficial in microneedling. At Serenity MedSpa, we often pair advanced infusions, including PRF, exosomes, whitening serums, and snail facials with microneedling treatments for further skin improvement.
After the treatment, which takes about 30 to 45 minutes, you may experience some minimal redness and tenderness for a few days, which typically goes away on its own. Your skin heals quickly after treatment, but you’ll want to keep it clean and free of makeup and active ingredients for the first few days or until otherwise instructed. You might not see immediate results until a few weeks later. Sunscreen is recommended to protect the skin.

Common FAQs

The cost of microneedling varies from person to person and depends on the specific type of microneedling treatment you choose, the treatment area, and the number of sessions you need. Therefore, we recommend a consultation for a detailed estimate to determine your treatment's cost.
Microneedling is an excellent skin-rejuvenating treatment that can benefit many skin tones, types, ages, and concerns. It's perfect if you want to improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles, rough skin texture, uneven skin tone, scars, enlarged pores, and for more youthful-looking skin. However, microneedling is not recommended if you have active skin infections or active acne.
Post microneedling skin care, whether traditional microneedling or RF microneedling was done, is essential. The channels in the skin are open, so you'll want to avoid using anything strong on the skin, like acids and retinoids. Instead, stick to a gentle skin cleanser, a good hydrator, and sunscreen.
Yes. Both microneedling and RF microneedling are good for acne scars. Acne scars result from a combination of skin and collagen damage and hyperpigmentation. Both issues are addressed with microneedling.

Microneedling and RF microneedling are generally well-tolerated treatments. However, some potential minor side effects can arise, including:

  • Redness or a flush to the skin
  • Dryness
  • Minor breakouts
  • Flaky patches
  • Minimal scabbing
  • Itchiness
Microneedling is generally well tolerated, but topical numbing cream is used to help make the treatment more tolerable, especially in more sensitive areas like the upper lip or forehead
The number of microneedling treatments depends on the specific area targeted. A series of three to five treatments are usually recommended.
