Ultherapy® is a non-invasive skin-tightening treatment that reaches the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production for a natural-looking skin-tightening effect without surgery or downtime. Unlike other skin-tightening and collagen-producing treatments, Ultherapy® requires just one treatment session to help lift and tighten the skin.
Before your session, a consultation is recommended so we can assess your skin’s current state, understand your concerns, and determine if you are a candidate for Ultherapy®. Then, we will create a custom plan designed just for you to help you meet your goals.
During the treatment, your skin will first be cleansed, and the specific treatment areas will be identified and possibly marked. Ultrasound conductive gel will be applied to allow the handpiece to glide across the skin effortlessly. Numbing cream will also be applied to the treatment areas to make the procedure more comfortable. Your treatment will be customized using Ultherapy®’s ultrasound imaging to target the areas that will benefit you most.
While the Ultherapy® handpiece is applied to the skin and the ultrasound energy is delivered, you may feel the energy being deposited. There may be some mild tingling or a tightening sensation, but this lasts only as the ultrasound is delivered into the skin.
Immediately after Ultherapy®, the skin may be slightly swollen, flushed, red, tender, or have a tingling sensation, which typically subsides on its own in a few hours. However, there’s no required downtime. You can return to your normal activities immediately after your procedure without any restrictions. Although rare, some patients experience mild burning sensations, which can be controlled with oral pain medication.
In the weeks following the treatment, you may start to see some initial results, but the full results can take up to six months to appear as the skin continues to build collagen gradually. Over time, the skin on the neck, chin, and brow will appear smoother with a natural tautness.

Ultherapy® is a good treatment for anyone bothered by loose skin who doesn't want plastic surgery. The treatment works well for those with skin that is not as firm as it once was, particularly in the areas under the neck, chin, or lines and wrinkles on the chest. Typically, patients in their 30s and older with mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates. Some people choose Ultherapy® as a preventative measure to maintain youthful skin.
Ultherapy® is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses ultrasound technology rather than laser wavelengths to stimulate new collagen. Some lasers rely on light energy, which cannot reach deeper skin layers. Laser treatments usually only treat superficial skin and are not FDA-cleared to lift skin.
Ultherapy® treats the deep layer of the skin typically addressed in cosmetic surgery, but the treatment won't duplicate the results of a surgical facelift. However, it is a great alternative, especially for those not ready for surgery. Patients who opt for Ultherapy® see a great improvement in skin tightness.

Since Ultherapy® produces collagen, the duration of the results depends on how you care for your skin and what you expose it to. While the results will begin to appear over two to three months, they can last up to a year or more. The new collagen created won't fade away, but like all collagen within the body, it can become damaged when exposed to certain environmental factors.
Most patients only need one Ultherpay treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one, depending on the degree of skin laxity and how they respond to the treatment. Annual follow-up Ultherapy® treatments may help maintain your results.
